Karen just gently put her hand on my knee like my own mother would have
I birthed my baby in August and Karen was one of the great nurses we had. But she wasn’t just great, she was incredible in every way. I have never met someone who cared so much for their patient, coworkers, and job that they went above and beyond in everything they did. She was more than a nurse, she was kind, compassionate, motherly, knowledgeable, informed, and the list goes on.
I remember having an exceptionally painful contraction and Karen just gently put her hand on my knee like my own mother would have if she would have been there, and tears sprung into my eyes because God showed me how much he cared for me through her. My birth experience would not have been what it was without her.
After I birthed my baby girl, I pulled the midwife aside and told her how impactful Karen was, she echoed my sentiment and told us how she is a light for the rest of the department, a wonderful mentor to the newer nurses, and just a pleasure to work alongside. The world would be a brighter place if more of us were like Karen.
