Karen Harden is exemplary of The DAISY Award for Nursing Faculty qualities. She enjoys teaching and is very passionate about the provision of excellent nursing education to develop professional nurse graduates. She is an excellent clinical and didactic instructor, whereby she assists students to develop into competent and confident practitioners. She exemplifies the UMSN EPIC values in all interactions with colleagues, students and patients. Karen is inherently kind and displays mutual respect within all her interactions. 
Karen's scholarship focuses on making a difference in the ongoing care of oncology patients. She is a leader in oncology nursing and within the nursing profession. She is involved in many collaborative projects at the UMSN and MM pertaining to palliative and oncology care. She is active in professional oncology nursing organizations and encourages membership amongst students. I believe this year's honoree is highly deserving of The DAISY Award for Nursing Faculty.
