I am writing to nominate Karen Kerns for the DAISY Award for her exceptional care and commitment to VNAHG patients and their families. Karen has been an instrumental member of our intake department, consistently going above and beyond to provide compassionate and personalized care to each patient she encounters. She is a true advocate for all the patients and takes the time to listen and address the concerns of both the patient and the family. She demonstrates kindness, empathy, and compassion by creating a calm and supportive environment for the patients being discharged home with home care.

One particular instance that stands out in my mind was when Karen went out of her way to comfort a family during a particularly difficult time. The patient's family was struggling to come to terms with their loved one's condition, and Karen went above and beyond to provide them with emotional support and guidance. Her kindness and compassion made a significant impact on the family and helped them to cope during a challenging time to take their loved one home. Karen is always receiving praise from the staff at Encompass Rehab on how she cares about each and every patient that is referred to VNAHG.
