Karen is an active, visible leader who fosters innovation and adaptability.
Karen is a role model and extraordinary leader. She leads by example with grace and dignity. She has helped in the nursing units at the bedside during the pandemic. She comes in early and stays late to support the nursing campus coordinator and the bedside staff on the units. The way Karen makes herself available to frontline staff has defined her as a leader with enthusiasm, compassion, and respect from staff.

Karen is an active, visible leader who fosters innovation and adaptability. Karen is a great communicator; always keeping us in the loop on the continuous changes that occur. She is always available to respond to atypical scenarios and questions. Karen always responds in a way that makes you feel like it was a good question. She is also always open to new ideas and helps solve challenges that staff may have. She is excellent at providing strategy and insight.

Karen was instrumental in the implementation of Shiftwizard. As an administrator, her organizational skills and keen use of technology, and knowledge of the organization helped keep us on track which made for a smooth transition. Karen's insight with the daily staffing moving to Teams was instrumental as well as using workload acuity for staffing decisions. Karen consistently promotes nursing by supporting the use of travel nurses, bonuses, or capping of units to maintain a safe environment for staff and patients; keeping nursing staff from being overwhelmed and burned out.

Karen engages in nurse recruitment by talking to students and passing their interest forms and information to nurse managers for interviews. She is active with the local high schools, as well as nursing schools, to promote nursing and Genesis as an employer of choice. Karen has also taken on entire divisions to cover for vacant director positions and serves as a mentor for those directors as positions are filled. Karen has the skill and ability to take on whatever comes next without skipping a beat and remains a highly valuable asset to nursing and to the organization.
