I am an ED nurse with WellStaffed currently contracted at WECH. During my shift this past Saturday I experienced a placental abruption. I was quickly rushed upstairs by my fellow coworkers and prepped for an emergency c-section. My home is about an hour away from WECH and my husband was unable to make it on time. I was terrified, alone, and hysterical. Karen, the charge nurse in FMU that night, held my hand through the whole process; talking me through the spinal, holding the vomit bag for me, and telling me how amazing I was doing. She truly went above and beyond to comfort me in the most traumatizing moment I’ve ever experienced. She really made a difference in my birthing process.
