Karen Mahoney, RN, of the Level 2 Special Care Nursery, was recently honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Congrats Karen!
Karen provided exceptional care during a challenging postpartum experience, and the grateful patient nominated Karen for this honor, stating, “While our newborn was in the Level 2 Nursery at Mt. Auburn, I was recovering from a serious pregnancy-related complication. Although Karen’s primary responsibility was caring for our baby, she extended her support to me in ways that made a profound difference. One of the most difficult aspects of my recovery was being unable to hold my daughter immediately after birth. Karen went above and beyond by bringing my baby to my bedside, so I could see and hold her for the first time. This thoughtful act eased an incredibly emotional moment and reassured me that my child was receiving excellent care. Throughout our stay, Karen’s kindness, professionalism, and guidance helped me feel more confident as a first-time mother.”
