On Saturday Morning, when I arrived at the hospital, Nurse Karen Matos was in the room with my husband. He was swollen so badly I didn't recognize him. I was visibly shaken by what I saw. She immediately put her arms around me and assured me everything was going to be okay. She explained what caused the swelling which helped to calm me. She stayed in the room monitoring my husband. She truly is an asset to the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. She is a wonderful caring person, an excellent nurse, and truly represents our nursing community as an outstanding role model.
