Karen had a patient who had a difficult time with exams. The medical team was planning to perform a biopsy and Karen volunteered to stay with the patient throughout the whole exam and biopsy. The patient truly appreciated Karen being present to hold her hand and comfort her. Immediately after the exam Karen spent time with the patient reassuring her, getting her pain medications and a drink.
Karen consistently shows compassion to all her patients. Karen exemplifies what it means to be a nurse and I am very grateful to have her on my team and caring for my patients.
From the patient:
I never would have been able to complete the biopsy/exam if I didn't have Karen's warm hand to hold and her comforting voice talking me through second by second. She is a strong, pleasant and caring nurse. She's been with me all morning with words of encouragement. I thank God for Karen.
