She immediately caught on to how much I wanted to return to horseback riding, for my mental and spiritual health, and was positive and encouraging about my healing.
I am writing to express my appreciation for visiting nurse Karen Murphy. I came home from breast cancer surgery with incisions on the breast and axilla, limited ability to move my right arm, and a drain in place. I live alone, and while my son stayed with me for a few days to help with household tasks, I was very anxious about managing the drain. Karen was great. She immediately caught on to how much I wanted to return to horseback riding, for my mental and spiritual health, and was positive and encouraging about my healing. She came in the mornings to check on me and help me empty the drain. Then she taught me to manage the drain myself, which I never would have dreamed I could do, so I could handle the evening without help. I was also anxious about the results of the lumpectomy -– it was at least a week before I could even bring myself to look at the incision – and again Karen was kind, positive, encouraging, and helpful with telling me what to expect. She was professional, friendly, and cheerful. I looked forward to seeing Karen every day during that weird week of the drain. I am a very grateful patient!
