The moment we walked in, Karen made us feel at ease. Her sense of humor matched ours and made this visit tolerable. Often when going to the ER you tend to regret it. This is due to the long wait, not enough beds and/or another patient comes in who is now more serious than you. When you're ill or in a lot of pain you tend to think that you're more serious than the next person. Having Karen be the person we've seen in the beginning and then she was the person we last saw prior to being discharged, made all the frustration we had seem less.
We just want to say that Karen is awesome, funny, and a wonderful nurse. St. Joseph's did great by hiring Karen to be a part of their team. She is an asset and we only hope that she is praised for her great job taking care of the patients and turning what was a horrible night to a night where we felt blessed to have her as our nurse. We came in on one of your busiest nights and even with the pain, our encounter with Karen was always filled with laughter. Thank you, Karen, for making us laugh and showing compassion. Kudos to you!
