Karen was there to support us. She was very knowledgeable throughout the entire process and made us feel like family.
My wife and I had planned for home delivery for our first child. At 39 weeks, she began having significant right upper quadrant pain and we decided to be evaluated. The workup was negative, but her pain continued. We decided to induce labor so as to end the pain. We returned to Labor and Delivery the next day dilated to 6cm. The staff was very kind and supportive of our plan for a natural birth. They were patient and informative. A few hours in, my wife stated that she needed an epidural. This is when Karen started her shift with my wife. I returned to the Labor and Delivery Room when the doctor was prepping for the procedure, Karen was standing in front of my wife supporting her. She was very calming, very nurturing, and said all the right things at all the right times. The epidural was quite difficult to place but Karen was there the entire time and got her through it. Karen was very attentive for the next six hours, answering all of our questions and assisting us in every way we needed. We ended up going cesarean at 12:30 a.m. Upon our return, Karen was there to support us. She was very knowledgeable throughout the entire process and made us feel like family. Karen is one of the finest nurses alive and deserves recognition. Thank you Karen for supporting us through that trying time.
