The cath lab emergency on-call team was called in on Sunday to care for a patient being transferred in with a heart attack just as we began to care for this patient the Bridgeport Hospital Emergency Dept. called a 2nd Cardiac alert meaning there were now 2 patients having a heart attack at the exactly the same time. While we were trying to care for our first patient my coworker Karen Ospina called in from home on her weekend off an volunteered to come in and help. Having a 2nd nurse and extra staff member allowed us to safely complete the first case and much more quickly treat the 2nd patient both heart attacks were stopped and the patients transferred to MICU in a seamless fashion.

I think this is a great example of teamwork. It reminds me that we are part of the team even we are not here and speaks well of how people think of their job and the patients we serve. I'm proud to have a teammate like Karen Ospina.
