On or around change of shift, on Monday, 7:00AM I met Karen Overbee. I was deeply moved by her bravery and persistence in pulling me, spiritually, emotionally, and physically out of my paralyzing fear and frustration. I had given up on life, but Karen would not let me go. She reached into my soul, and pulled out my inner strength and found my lost zest for life.
Her superior communication skills, her assessment skills, her compassion and empathy with my soul sickness and her partnership with other staff members pushed me to get better despite myself. I was an RN for 40 years but Karen is in a league of her own. I feel she has saved my life!!! There were so many wonderful staff members, CNAs, housekeepers, dietary workers at EMRMC I couldn't begin to name them. The staff were very excellent. I can't forget about Karen and I want you to know how great she is!! Thank you for my care - my hands shake but I hope you can read this.
