Karen Patterson-Palmer, RN

I truly appreciate Karen's exemplary service and care.  Karen consistently conducts herself with professionalism and diligence.  She puts in the extra effort to ensure my  health is good by monitoring my activities while I’m in the unit.  I do not look forward to the exercises in the rehab unit.  Even though exercising is not my favorite, Karen always kindly encourages me to press on at my own pace and not give up.  When I tell her that I do not like a particular exercise, she will recommend how I can improve what I am doing.  After following her suggestion, the rehab exercises become more bearable.  

She genuinely has a concern for me and all the patients who use the rehab unit.  As an example, I told the nurses that I have been having to take frequent naps each day.  All the nurses suggested I inform my cardiologist.  I sent a message to my cardiologist using MYchart.  After a few days, Karen asked if I had contacted the doctor.  I informed her I did not hear back; she encouraged me to recontact his office.  What amazed me was that with the number of people who pass through the unit, she was still able to remember the specifics of my case and provide follow-up advice.  As a result of her professional advice, the doctor is now going to conduct a PET stress test. Karen is a role model nurse!
