When I was assigned pulmonary rehab, I had no idea what to expect. One of the first nurses I met upon entering the program was Karen; she welcomed me openly and it was immediately apparent that she deeply cared about me and that she really knew her subject matter. As I worked through the program, Karen was a constant source of very helpful and important information. She encouraged me, and others, to change our mindsets about how we must approach having IPF and how we can best manage to live well with it.

Karen is an expert in her knowledge of IPF and she is confident in her ability to deliver the needed information in a professional, interesting way. We met separately with her as a counselor, and she helped my wife and me to address some of the stresses we have in dealing with my new limitations. Karen has professional certification as a counselor and it is very apparent that she wants very much to be helpful.

Karen is an expert in the disease and she is very effective in aiding patients in coping with their disease. Karen quickly became a patient favorite. Her dedication to nursing and to pulmonary disease is a blessing for all of us who are dealing with it. I am now much better able to live comfortably with my new limits thanks to her and I try to practice the teaching she gave me.
