There is not a day that goes by that this nurse does not make a difference in our unit. This nurse is the poster child for super-human nurses. Every day she comes to work with intention. Intentions to help others, educate others, and be there for others. Karen delivers compassionate care to all patients by offering herself to each patient. Her time is dedicated to educating patients about having the best outcome post-surgery. Pre-covid she taught a class every day for an hour and a half. During Covid, she created a discharge video that represents her class, printed numerous handouts to give to patients, and she personally gives out her phone number just as a "lifeline" if the patient needs it. This is one of the 100 things she accomplishes during her shift. Helping with a bed change or toileting a patient is not beneath her, she helps everyone out! And it is all for the patients and her peers. She is completely selfless! She is 100% for the patient, and for the patient's family, and she is there for her peers. She is why I personally strive for excellence, as a leader, as a peer, and as a person. She is the person you love to work with.
