Karen Sidgwick, RN

Karen is an amazing, loving, caring nurse on the neonatal unit, by far my favourite neonatal nurse. I had two separate neonatal stays with my 29 and 28 weekers, and both times Karen was extremely supportive whether it be towards my children, keeping me updated on their care, explaining things that I didn't understand, and especially guiding me in the correct direction when my mental health took an all time low. She then continued to check in with me on my visits to the unit - making sure things were going okay, and that I was getting the help I desperately needed. I was SO scared to open up about my mental health to anyone, let alone a professional. All I could think is that they could make things difficult for me, but she was extremely welcoming and understanding, she also was a brilliant help with my massive anxieties about doing things with my babies for the first time. Yet she wouldn't pressure me if I wasn't ready either she would go perfectly at my pace and even though she had SEVERAL other babies to look after, she managed to make time to make each parent feel warm and welcomed, and you knew going home that with Karen, your baby was in safe, warm, loving hands.
