I got the very best nursing care possible during my surgical recovery by the nurses on the 5th floor, the surgical unit. The best nurse in my opinion during my stay was Karen. She was awesome. I arrived on the unit close to the change of shift. Soon after my arrival on the unit Karen came in my room to introduce herself and gave me an explanation of what to expect during my stay as a patient. I am so glad she works at Bon Secours and if I ever have to have surgery, no matter what type, I will ask to have my care provided by the nurses at Maryview on the surgical unit.

Karen went well above and beyond what I expected. Even my mother said how impressed she was with Karen, calling her an excellent nurse. I have to laugh, but Karen did not give me a chance to miss her during her shift. She was right there. She came in the room often asking me if I needed anything. She even came to my room right before the end of her shift to say good bye and to let me know the name of the nurse coming on duty as her replacement to provide my care. There were times I did not want to get up, but Karen encouraged me to get up and walk the halls, and to take my medication as ordered. She took the time to explain the side effects of the medications and the reason I should take them.

You got some of the best nurses on the 5th floor surgical unit. Karen is one of the very best nurses and I wanted you to know. I am very pleased with the care I received at Bon Secours Maryview.
