Karen was the CNS for my daughter during the Pre-Transplant Investigations and ABOI Treatments.
My daughter has learning difficulties and mobility problems and limited speech. Karen was there for her, me and my husband during many difficulties.
We were on the national list for a year with no luck and her renal functions declined. We tried pooled donor route - no match x2 runs - with renal function becoming critical.
Finally, a live donor (me), after 3 ABO treatments, canceled op and 3 more treatments then finally surgery in October.
Karen was there throughout, nothing was too much for her and she established a brilliant relationship with my daughter, who trusts her implicitly.
Recently we were admitted and my daughter was diagnosed with Sepsis, thankfully recognised due to excellent, SRU and Ward care. Again, Karen took the time to visit and support us and help us through. I truly do not think we would have got through this ordeal without her knowledge, support, and professionalism and all-important 'fun'. Karen is a credit to her team and the trust and we thank her.
