Karen is an ex-line manager, colleague and now friend. She has personally helped me to grow and develop my nursing career by mentoring me and encouraging/inspiring me to apply for different roles within UCLH. I first met Karen when I was a band 5 staff nurse in the ED. I have since been a Gynae oncology CNS, sister in Gynae Outpatients and the Early Pregnancy Unit- and most recently ward sister on T06 Gynae. Without Karen's belief in me I would not be as successful as I am today. Her guidance comes as a selfless act to encourage junior nurses to develop and grow since my position within her team. She has also developed other CNS development positions from Band 5-6 then 6-7.
In addition to helping me, Karen has touched the hearts of many with her 30+ years in nursing. She was also my mother's CNS 10 years ago and supported her through her cancer treatment then. Karen is an incredible nurse but the kindest and most thoughtful person I have met.
