May 2023 Honoree
Karen Vigil, RN
Karen is the Clinical Coordinator at PSC. As a new manager, I have relied on her to show me the processes here and help me integrate into the team. I know that she worked many long hours during the months of interim management here before I came in order to keep things going. I know that she cares about this workplace and her team members, and she will try to be anything to anybody that they need in order to help things along. She is responsible for the clinical orientation of new employees, and in the past year that I know of she has trained three new OR nurses and four PACU nurses while continuing to perform her other duties.
c Many team members have expressed to me that they don’t think Karen gets the recognition she deserves for having kept the place afloat throughout management turnover and staffing turnover, especially during a period of time in which they were critically low-staffed. I do try to recognize her personally and in front of the team at staff meetings but perhaps something bigger is in order! She provides excellent patient care as well.

Thank you, Karen, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
