I frequently witness the compassionate care Karen gives to everyone who enters Kootenai Health, from patients and their families to fellow employees - not just RNs - but housekeeping, dietary, and the volunteers. Patients and families frequently recognize her from previous visits, and she remembers their stories.
Karen exhibits a very high level of professionalism in her care for her patients, and not just in the vascular access role. When she is in a patient room, she assesses that patient and intervenes if she notices a problem. When I think of "the face of Kootenai" and a true magnet RN, I think of Karen Wilson, not for one single act of compassion, but for the multiple acts of compassion, she delivers every day.
