Kari formed a relationship with a very young mother who had just delivered a 24-week micro-preemie. She learned that this patient had been living in a group home and was a ward of the state. As the two spoke, Kari also learned the patient had very few clothes, no underwear or socks, no toiletries, no way to wash clothes and no food. Kari took it upon herself to buy clothing for the young mom, wash her clothes and help secure food vouchers so the young mom wasn't going without food. Kari is compassionate to her patients and listens to their needs. While she cannot fix all of the struggles for this young mom, she certainly made a difference.
