Kari Grandstaff, RN

I was doing patient rounds in ICU and Kari was mentioned by a patient. The patient was on 4A prior to joining us in ICU. It was Saturday night 11/27/22 that Kari made a lifelong impact that was described as more meaningful than any medicine, treatment or surgery we could ever provide him. At one point, the patient said it was “complete chaos…Everyone was in my room…I didn’t really know what was going on”, but Kari paused, grabbed his hand and said “we got you, we will take care of you”. That short pause brought peace and comfort to him. Although the patient is extremely happy with all the care he’s received here, it is Kari that shines brightest. When he was sharing this compliment, I could see his emotion. It makes me so happy to know that Kari provides such selfless and compassionate care and is personally aligned with our mission and values. This is a great compliment to receive as a newer nurse. She should be recognized for having the skills now that take many nurses years to develop.
