I was in a complete state of helplessness that first day; she made me feel safe and well cared for at all times.
Kari went above and beyond to care for me and my newborn as I recovered from a complicated c-section. From the moment she stepped in my room, she was working to help me improve. She started by tidying up, then started to assess my health. She noticed that my color was off, so she contacted the doctor and made sure I was seen as soon as possible. They ended up giving me 2 pints of blood and sent me down for a CAT scan later that day to make sure I wasn’t bleeding internally. She, along with the 2 student nurses, helped monitor me and take care of my baby around the clock that whole day. Kari and the students worked with me to get me out of bed after my catheter was removed, as I hadn’t moved for 30+ hours. She treated me with kindness, compassion, and patience as I struggled to move that first day. When she left for the evening, Kari made sure that another excellent nurse Kim would take over closely monitoring and caring for me. The next day, I was lucky enough to have Kari as my nurse again. She made sure I was feeling better, that my blood was drawn for monitoring purposes, and that I was able to get some rest. We also worked together on breastfeeding techniques. She was gracious as I slowly worked on getting up during the day and took my first shower. I was in a complete state of helplessness that first day; she made me feel safe and well cared for at all times. Kari also helped erase any self-consciousness I had while in the hospital. Kari is an excellent nurse who improved my health and postpartum experience drastically and I am so lucky that she played a part in my recovery.
