I have worked with Kari for my 4 years as a nurse. She gives excellent patient care. Her skills are admirable. She has always been happy to help when I needed it and answers my questions. She is the best patient advocate I know. She always puts her patients before herself. She isn't afraid to bug a provider when she feels her patient has a need that isn't being met.
It is evident Kari has a passion for caring for our NICU babies not only in simply working alongside her but also in her accomplishments. She is a certified nurse and on the transport team. I admire her patient care and also the care she gives to parents. We have parents with kids all ages (within her 15 years as a nurse in the NICU) who visit with their kid who she took care of in the NICU. It's obvious the bond and appreciation they have for her. She advocates when it is appropriate for the mother to hold their babies, even tiny ones on the vent.
One time we had a baby pass away whose parents hardly visited. They didn't come to the hospital for the death when called. Kari held the baby in its final moments so it wouldn't be alone. She goes above and beyond for her patients and families and the unit in general.
