Karina Becerra, RN

Karina provided compassionate care to a patient going through the loss of her newborn son. The patient underwent emergency surgery -- she had limited family support in the area and was alone most of her stay. The patient struggled to understand how critically ill her newborn son was. Karina was able to build a connection with the patient by overcoming communication barriers. She spent extensive amounts of time emotionally supporting the patient through end-of-life decisions and advocated for the patient's wishes. She went above and beyond to support the patient throughout her stay. You could tell the patient was comforted by her presence. Karina is an amazing nurse, and the compassion she showed the patient today was very powerful. I believe she has made a forever impact on the patient's life.
