When the patient came into the hospital, he had no appetite, but he needed to eat in order to heal. Karina took the time to find out what he liked and what sounded good to him. She then clocked out, proceeded to the cafeteria and bought him his favorite candy bar, and chocolate and strawberry milk. The next day, Karina held his hand as he had a midline catheter placed because he did not like needles. The patient and his wife knew that every time Karina entered their room, they were safe and cared for, giving them a sense of calm.
