I am aware that charge nurses are busy with their own tasks and duties so her willingness to go above and beyond in that situation has me forever in her debt.
This recognition is long overdue! Karina Majia is an amazing nurse and undeniably a great asset to our team. She has gone above and beyond for her colleagues numerous times and always with a smile. It seems lately, I've leaned on her more for support, guidance, and hands-on assistance. She never once pushes back or complains, she rolls up her sleeves and gets to business. From charge nurse to floor nurse, she brings a sense of calm to the shift and her fun personality is always a nice break when the shift gets heavy. She is just awesome and more specifically, she has helped me from drowning on multiple shifts. She helped me get an ICU patient off our unit while dealing with the back and forth from doctors and the house supervisor. She then entered MIDAS because she knew I was trying to catch up on my charting and do a new admission. Also, during this chaotic time, she helped me with chest pain, EKG and medication run. Most recently right before shift change my patient’s rhythm changed and needed an EKG which turned into a time-consuming effort. She was unable to get physical but unknowingly she was working behind the scenes contacting the doctor for me, getting the conversation rolling, and getting orders all while my hands were busy with the patient. She wasn’t even in charge of that shift, so this blew me away. And let’s not forget the time she helped me with a very large brown code! I am aware that charge nurses are busy with their own tasks and duties so her willingness to go above and beyond in that situation has me forever in her debt. She could have simply answered the call light and passed the message to me or the tech, but she realized we were both busy with other patients and took on the challenge. Not only was she helping her team out but also went above and beyond for that patient’s wellbeing. These are just a few examples of why she deserves recognition. I cannot thank her enough!
