There are too many to list. My father, a newly diagnosed bladder cancer patient, had a leaking foley. The urologist offered no solution. So, nurse Karina invented a contraption to go over the penis and the foley, which suctioned off the leak without causing any discomfort. It was like a miracle. 

Another time, my father was writhing in pain and Nurse Karina helped reach out to the pain management provider and got his pain treatment upgraded to something that finally worked. She would constantly check in on him even though my dad is very stubborn and made sure he was ok. 

Karina got us boxed water when he ran out, and when his coffee was too cold, she got him a new hot one. When we missed the urologist rounding, she called him to come back so we could consult. She called me (the patient’s son) to let me know when he was out of surgery so I didn’t have to wait around for hours. 

The list is endless. Nurse Karina went above and beyond and took care of my father so well that she felt like family. We are dealing with a horrible new aggressive bladder cancer diagnosis, but getting to meet Nurse Karina and have her take care of my father was a wonderful silver lining to this otherwise awful news.
