February 2026 Honoree
Karina Phillips, BSN, RN
My mom came to the hospital with a broken hip and a stage 4 wound on her tailbone area. I stayed with my mom while she was in the hospital. I would always ask questions about her care. All of the nurses and techs were wonderful with the care of my mom, but one stood out, and her name was Karina. She was very knowledgeable about the care of Mom. She taught me a few things about her care. Like remembering to change the gauze around her feeding tube, and what was the best way mom should be fed by holding the tube up and letting her feeding flow through the tube. This helped mom’s stomach not to hurt. She was also very compassionate whenever mom would call out, “Help me!” This all comforted me, too, knowing that someone else cared and wanted Mom to be as comfortable as possible while in the hospital.
Thank you, Karina, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
