Karla was the charge nurse last week when I gave my first transplant. She was amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. She supported me by checking in hourly to see how I was doing and making sure I was prepared for the cells. She verbalized her confidence in me which helped ease my nervousness. When my patient spiked during the transfusion, she stayed with me through the process of paging the provider, talking to the various providers, helped to assess the patient frequently, and really helped reassure his parents.
I appreciate every shift I work with Karla as a charge nurse; she is aware of everyone's patients, she checks in frequently, she doesn't make you feel dumb by asking questions, she points you to resources and makes our unit better. I am so grateful for her!
