Karla Funke, RN

Karla Funke is an exceptional nurse, there is no doubt about it. I’ve had the privilege of working with Karla for several years now and I love hearing her stories/adventures as she travels across the US. Her love for her family and her dog Missy shines through the phone every time we talk. The story that I will be sharing for you today is from her patient and is a testament to Karla’s passion for nursing and treating her patients just like she would her family.

Karla is one of a kind. I was rushed to the hospital a year ago with a severe wound infection and I was in the ICU, and I had Karla as a nurse, and she went above and beyond to make me not scared or nervous. I don’t like to be in hospitals because I get really bad anxiety and Karla just went above and beyond on making sure I wasn’t scared or anxious. She made it fun for me by making funny jokes and goofy faces. She would even come in more times just to make sure I was ok, not a lot of nurses do that. Another thing she did was decorate me as a Christmas tree to make me laugh and smile. This nurse is amazing, and I owe her my life because she didn’t make me realize I was in a hospital. She deserves this recognition, I wouldn’t be here today without her.
