My wife recently had a cardiac ablation to correct the atrial fibrillation and although the procedure was successful and there were no complications, her recovery was rough and extended compared to what was expected. Karla Grover was the nurse for the first two nights of our stay and she was a great source of support, both with medical and emotional support. She was always quick to respond to even the most vague request for help. On the first night, for example, my wife communicated that she “felt funny” (which describes nothing) but as soon as I relayed this to Karla, she came in the room and checked my wife to find that her blood pressure had dropped to 75/ 40. Upon finding this, she brought in the charge nurse, and another nurse to help start IV fluids and to acquire their opinions about what would be the next step for my wife. She had genuine concern for my wife and checked in frequently to see how she was doing. It was the constant cheerfulness, friendliness, encouragement, and compassion Karla showed which really made her exceptional.
