Kasey Alston, BSN, RN

It is my honor to nominate Kasey, an exceptional NICU nurse who embodies the heart of nursing. As her night-shift Clinical Supervisor, I have seen her steadfast commitment to our patients, teammates, and the continued advancement of the NICU. She consistently goes above and beyond, making a meaningful impact every day. Kasey is an outstanding preceptor and educator who orients new and returning nurses with patience, skill, and enthusiasm. She develops educational resources, identifies practice gaps, and shares improvements with the team, strengthening both our efficiency and our standard of care. Her leadership is invaluable, regardless of title. Kasey also showed remarkable compassion and initiative through a project benefiting some of our most vulnerable patients. With ongoing losses of blankets, clothing, books, and comfort items due to outsourced laundry, she turned a unit-wide challenge into organized, meaningful action. On her own time, she cleaned and reorganized the NICU storage closet, created a flyer and Amazon wish list, coordinated logistics, and ensured donations reached families—often bringing in multiple packages a day. Because of Kasey’s dedication and selflessness, NICU families will have greater access to warm blankets, clothes, books, and comfort items that support bonding and help normalize the NICU experience. Kasey is always looking for ways to improve outcomes and experiences for patients, families, and coworkers. Her compassion is matched by clinical excellence, and our unit is stronger because of her. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
