Kasey Brester is the Clinical Coordinator for the Pulmonary Department's Cystic Fibrosis Clinic and while I can confidently say that I have never envied someone who has a CF diagnosis I can say that I am jealous of the patients that get to experience clinical care under Kasey.

As someone relatively new to the pulmonary department, I still must do some research when it comes to what provider patients see and what their diagnosis is. But, despite the fact that she doesn't have a small pool of patients, every time that I ask, "Kasey, is so-and-so your patient?" she can confidently tell me “yes” or “no” as well as what the message is most likely regarding before I have even given any context of the message.

She is so organized in her clinic planning, and yet she still has the time and bandwidth to keep up with lab orders, results, and message centers. Her personal involvement with patients is something that I marvel at each and every time she runs a clinic or even just interacts with a patient. She is not only on top of their medical happenings but also cares enough to remember their own personal quirks and is able to connect every time. She is so passionate and sure about her job that I have even started to feel like I know her patients just by asking her about them.

When I first started in the clinic, Kasey was one of the few who talked to me like I wasn't brand new. She treated me just like everyone else and really became my shepherd during my first few weeks. It is through my own connections and experiences with Kasey that I know exactly how lucky her patients feel to have her. She is everything that people in healthcare should aspire to be. I owe a great deal of my current success and my future successes to how she has taught me to be.

Thank you, Kasey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
