I noticed Kasey was walking around collecting big books and had already been carrying several. These were educational nursing books. I asked her what she was doing and she told me that we had a patient today in chemo who had a mental deficit and she liked big books. Kasey was going around the office looking for big books with pictures so the patient would have something enjoyable to look at while she was here. She went on to say that she did not like magazines but had to be big books. I thought this was very sweet and thoughtful and went beyond the call of duty. I think this shows how hard Kasey tries to build relationships with our patients, and take care of all of their needs. This was above and beyond and shows an investment in the patient, Kasey as a special nurse, and the cancer center's mission.
