Kasey Wade did some extraordinary things while my husband, S, was in her care that shouldn't go unnoticed and it deserves special attention.
Everyone was taking my husband's temperature from the forehead and it was reading 98.7. Kasey asked my husband how he felt and he didn't seem well. She felt his head and it was warm to the touch. She took an oral temp reading and one under his arm-both came back over 100 degrees. She immediately inquired about Tylenol and started him on it. Within 30 minutes, S broke a fever and was feeling much better. Kasey also noted on the board in his room to only use oral temp.
S also had a back wound with a very large opening. She was concerned and reached out to a fellow peer who had experience in wound care. She received confirmation of her treatment and informed the nurse at night.
This next thing she did really put Kasey over the top. S's port has 2 lines and one wasn't getting blood return. For several weeks people would try to take blood and would only use the one side. Kasey came on board and wasn't comfortable with that and said both ports should be functional. She informed us of the medication that goes in and unplugs any clots preventing the flow. She administered it and within 2 hours the port was accessible and had blood return.
Kasey Wade truly loves her profession and it showed in everything she does with her patients. Her attention to detail, her focus, and great follow-through are outstanding. Kasey is a true DAISY Nurse. It goes without saying, people are only as good as their bosses make them feel. Her manager should also be rewarded for being there for her people. Thank you, Kasey, for all you do for people. God be with you always.
