I loved Kay's constant caring spirit and the way she always asked if I needed anything else while in the room and immediately fulfilled my request.
I was a patient on medical oncology for 3 days and 2 nights in July. I'm a single mom and with the COVID situation, I was really missing the love and support of my family, specifically my son. Nurse Kay became my family the two nights I was with her. I loved her constant caring spirit and the way she always asked if I needed anything else while in the room and immediately fulfilled my request. They were small requests like warm blankets, crackers, water refreshed, or soup warmed up, but she was always happy and eager to help. Those small, little things really helped make my recovery quick. The constant warm blankets helped the pain in my side and the crackers/soup helped by nausea, which kept me away from the as-needed medication I needed at other times. Non-pharmacological nursing is an art, and Nurse Kay is great at it! She was also a great listener and never came off as hurried (which I am sure she was busy) anytime we talked. Nurse Kay is definitely an Extraordinary Nurse!
