Kasie Maxwell, RN

Kasie Maxwell deserves a huge shout-out! Before taking me to the OR, she asked if I had any questions. I asked her to come closer, then asked if I would be left alone with an individual who made me scared and uncomfortable. She assured me that she would not leave me alone with them. She respectfully asked a simple yes-or-no question to better assist me.

In the OR, she stayed by my side. She kept her hand on me, and I held her elbow. She then held my hand and looked me in the eyes and told me I was safe. She wiped my tears and helped me calm down. Going back a bit - before heading to the OR, I tried to give my glasses to my husband, and Kasie asked how severe my poor vision was and told me to keep them. She promised she would put them in a soft case in a safe place. She told me I would wake up in a new, strange place, and having my glasses would make the situation less disorienting (she was correct, of course). In the OR, she had another nurse follow through with her promise to put my glasses away so that she could stay by my side. Kasie is an incredible nurse and person. I really hope she understands how much I appreciate her.
