Kassi Jackson was my nurse upon my admission for my C-section. She wasn't supposed to work that day but the unit was full and she came in for an extra shift. She efficiently got me admitted, while simultaneously not making me feel as if she was rushing me. I can respect that she was trying to keep the OR on schedule. Believe me, I appreciated it, because it's hard to wait when you've been NPO for many hours, not to mention, wanting to meet the child you've been growing for almost 10 months! She asked what my wishes were for the C-section regarding skin to skin and she told me she was going to get amazing pictures. She definitely delivered on that promise. I got to see the moment that the doctor delivered my daughter even though the drape was blocking it from my view because Kassi got photos. She also took a video of the first time I got to see my little girl. This was my last pregnancy and delivery and I have those pictures and videos to cherish from the experience. I love that CGH does the holiday outfits for the babies and she also took pictures of my daughter in the Valentine's outfits at my request. She checked in frequently and also was there on the day of my discharge; she didn't get to discharge me because the unit was completely full and she was needed elsewhere but she stopped in to say goodbye which I also appreciated. I wanted to commend her because, working in medicine myself, I know how difficult it can be to make a connection with a patient while also trying to do your job efficiently to help your team out. It's a talent to treat a patient like you've given them hours, when you've done your job in minutes. She is an asset to CGH and should be recognized as such.
