As many are aware we have challenging patients on the 3E medical floor, however in the last 10 months we have had a more challenging patient situation in which the compassion drive of nurses is challenged daily and I see Kassidy continually going above and beyond to make sure this patient's needs are met. She not only still has compassion and drive for this patient but she takes time on her day off to buy extra toiletries for him and provides him with things that he cannot afford to go get. She will take time to make sure his ADL cares are met (shaving, showering, shampooing. These are a challenge to complete on him), and you will oftentimes not be surprised to see her helping the patient comb his hair nor be surprised to see her taking extra time with him outside. I do not want her kindness, compassion, and drive for complete patient care to go unnoticed, as being a new nurse to our facility, it can at times be challenging and hard to see the big picture of what a patient care all entails, yet Kassidy is providing so much more than just medications, reviewing lab results and doing her assessments. The mindfulness of her simple yet beyond general expectations of patient care that she continues to use for this patient goes to show you how much she truly cares for those in need of her touch and care as a nurse. She is here for so much more than everyday tasks. After all, I am not sure how much the patient comprehends of her care or will go on remembering her care, but that is not her intention. She is not in it for her. Kassidy is a true DAISY Nurse.
