My mother was in ICU for just over a week before she passed away. The care she received by all the nurses and doctors was great, but one caregiver stood out above all, and that nurse was Kassie White. Her professionalism, excellent level of care and compassion for my mom and family were shown throughout every shift she worked. She was patient and answered all our questions. Many of the questions we had probably asked her several times before, but she answered them as though it was the first time we asked. Although all of the nurses were good, we selfishly didn't want Kassie to have a day off and leave my mom or us.
Kassie was working on the day my mom passed away. As our family cried and hugged each other, we went to Kassie and hugged her as well. She had become part of our family. We will be forever grateful for the care she gave my mom and the kindness she expressed to our family. If my mom could have spoken, I know she would have thanked her a million times and loved Kassie as the rest of us do.
