Katarina is an ICU trained nurse who joined our emergent care facility shortly after opening. The knowledge that she brings with her is remarkable, but what she has even more of is kindness and compassion for every person she meets.
On one occasion EMS brought in a woman who gave birth during a snowstorm. While a majority of the staff cared for the newborn, Katarina was monitoring the mother very closely ensuring she was medically, physically, and mentally stable and everything turned out well.
Katarina truly embodies the essence of the DAISY Award and has enriched and inspired more lives than I think she knows. It is for all of these reasons and countless more that Katarina is a DAISY Award Honoree.
