Being an RN myself I found it difficult to be the patient in the bed accepting tender care from someone. I am usually the one nurturing others. It feels very different to be on the other side of things. Kate treated me with such kindness that I am truly touched. I am incredibly lucky to have had her as my nurse the night I arrived at the hospital in labor. She gave me the gift of relaxation and letting go. She could tell I was beginning to get more and more uncomfortable as the night dragged on. I was restless in labor pain and not allowing myself to relax fully during my break in contractions. She effortlessly stepped in and intervened in such a special way. She told my husband to sit back and relax and get some rest. This allowed my husband to settle down for a bit for the night. What a gift to give to an expectant father. My husband was just as anxious as I was. Kate then turned down the lights, brought in aromatherapy, and gave me a therapeutic massage on my hips. She even rubbed my feet with lotion. Wow, I was finally able to breathe, relax, and reset for the night to come. These gestures made me feel loved, nurtured, and completely taken care of. I am overflowing with gratitude for her as she really made me feel pampered and special. My experience was made so special and I am thankful to have had such a special nurse take care of me and my husband. Kate's kindness and compassion made a lasting impression on me.
