Kate Ceballos is the epitome of compassion. There are so many times Kate has shown how much care she can give. She is one of the strongest patient advocates that I have ever encountered. Often times, nurses can get overwhelmed with daily tasks, but no matter how crazy it gets, Kate never stops being empathetic towards patients and families. Often, she may start the ball rolling for palliative/comfort care, reaching out to medical providers to address psych/social aspect that can fall between the cracks when managing other systems of the body.
Kate, I appreciate that you will sit and hold a patient's hand when family members can't be there. I appreciate that you attempt to assign yourself Spanish-speaking patients so you can make them feel more at ease. I appreciate that you take the time to write long messages to providers/SW/ management about a patient's wishes. Kate gives so much to patients, families, and staff. We are so lucky to work with her.
