I will never forget her or the difference she made in my difficult time watching my son go through this recovery.
I am the mother of the patient, who is 3.5 months old. He had sagittal craniosynostosis and had surgery here at Children’s. When we first got into a room, he was still very uncomfortable and crying constantly. The nurses before her were great and did their best but he was still miserable and constantly crying in pain. The second Kate came in, she made a world of difference for his comfort and pain. She was able to get his blankets and position just right. He went from crying inconsolably to smiling at us in a matter of hours, even though his head was swollen up like a balloon. She came in to comfort him, sit him up, feed him, and reposition him all night, letting us (parents) get some much-needed rest. All of the nurses here are amazing, but Kate really stood out. I have spent so much time (weeks at a time for years) in hospitals with other nurses due to another person I knew who was very sick, and I have NEVER felt this cared for. I will never forget her or the difference she made in my difficult time watching my son go through this recovery. Thank you to Kate for going above and beyond for my son. You absolutely deserve recognition. Thank you to Children’s as well. Just THANK YOU.
