Kate Ensminger, RN

Kate is an extraordinary nurse who exemplifies expertise and compassion. Our sister-in-law was hospitalized many times in the last year for liver failure. The care she received and the compassion from the entire team were beyond compare. Kate consistently went beyond the call of duty to keep the family informed of her status. She helped us understand the medications, their actions, and we worked as a team caring for our sister-in-law. Kate missed dinner in the cafeteria because she was caring for our sister-in-law. Another time, she offered her personal cell phone hoping that music would comfort and relax her. If we were away from the unit and our sister-in-law’s condition changed, she called us. Kate also told us how much she enjoyed the teamwork and positivity at Summerville. Despite a year of COVID, working full time, and homeschooling her two children, Kate had an abundance of compassion, energy, and joy for her work and for us. She exemplifies all that DAISY celebrates..
