Kate is the backbone of the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)program,and I don't think it would exist without her. Kate has a passion for not only herpatients, but for the services the program provides, as well as the staffmemberswhoarepart of it. It is obviousthatthe SANE program is very personal to her, as she frequently and fiercelydefends how important and necessary it is to the community.
Kate is the epitome of an employee who acts like an owner of Harrison, andwho ispersonally invested in this program. If equipment is needed, she comes up with it. If herguidance is requested during an exam, she's there for the staff 24 hours a day. She made itclear that she is there to back up the staff members of SANE anytime, day or night. Ifnobody can cover some of the on-call hours during the month, Kate covers it, regardless ofhow inconvenient it is for her. She is very supportive, patient, kind, compassionate, andempathetic withpatients and staffalike. Her confidence in the staff helps them feel like they are trusted, valuable employees.
She has made many sacrifices in order to keep the program thriving and running on a day-to-day basis. Yet with all that she has given, she has never once complained or askedanything of anyone else. If a staff member is willing to pick up a shift of on-call time, Kate makes it seem likea giftrather than an expectation. Her enthusiasm and dedication isinspiring to those who are fortunate enough to work with her.
Kate seems to know just about every staff member in this hospital, and I have yet to hear a negative remark about her. When I mention her name to others, they immediately light upwith a smile and talk about what a wonderful person she is. She is truly a gift to Harrison and a friend to all who know her.
