Kate Gaffield, BSN, RN

This young woman is an asset to Sanford Health and when you hired her you did a wonderful thing for all the patients she has had and will work with in the future. She is one of the kindest and most caring nurses I have had the pleasure to deal with during my father’s hospital stays over the past couple of years. She was kind, patient, always there when needed, and never rude, disrespectful, or harsh with him even when he was in so much pain he was short or grumpy. She took the time to listen to him and get him what he needed. She took the time to listen to me, his daughter, give me hugs, cry with me. Even though I told her he may not know she was there, she took the time out of her busy day to visit him in the Hospice House after he left the hospital and we talked about things he loved in his life. It was such a pleasure to have her in our lives for the last few days of Dad's life. She is one of the most caring, loving, and deserving nurses I have ever known and I hope her career takes her where she wants to go and she has a long enjoyable life giving comfort to patients and family. Kate, you deserve the best and I love you for who you are even though I barely know you. Keep your chin up and let your love and care flow to others around you. You are a beautiful woman, and I am so glad I met you during one of the hardest times in my life!
